Please arrive 20 minutes before every exam.
Dress as you would for the real HSC exam. All equipment you bring to your exam may be inspected.
Examination Equipment (Adapted from NESA)
What to bring?
It is expected that you come fully prepared into the examination room with the appropriate equipment in working order:
- Black pens — ensure to bring spare pens to each exam
- Ruler
- NESA-approved calculator
- Pencils or pacers (at least 2B)
- Water in a clear label-free bottle.
You can wear a watch, but it should be taken off and placed in clear view on your desk once you sit down for your exam. Programmable watches (for example smart watches) are not permitted in the exam room.
All equipment you bring is subject to inspection on entry. Make sure any equipment you are allowed to bring, such as a calculator, is in good working order because there will be no provisions for extra equipment.
Forbidden equipment
- mobile phones (not permitted in an exam room under any circumstance)
- programmable watches (for example, smart watches)
- other electronic devices (excluding a calculator) and any other communication devices, including:
- organisers
- laptops
- tablets (for example, iPads)
- wireless earphones and headphones
- electronic dictionaries
- music players.
- paper or any printed or written material (you can ask your invigilators for extra writing booklets)
- calculator lids
- correction fluid (white-out)
You are not allowed to borrow equipment during exams.
Terms and payment
The terms and conditions for the HSC Premiere.
- Registration. A place is confirmed when payment is completed and a receipt is issued. Registrations are for the named student only.
- Registration details. The student must register with their full legal name, including any middle name, their school and their NESA student number. These details are printed on the student’s examination materials exactly as entered.
- Prices. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. Early bird pricing applies to registrations completed before Sunday 20 September and is not applied retrospectively.
- Cancellation. Registration fees are not refundable, and no refund or credit is given for non-attendance. A place may be transferred to another student if W² Education is notified by email before the first examination session.
- Marking and results. Papers are marked by W² Education staff to the standard of the HSC marking guidelines. Results, ranks and cohort distributions are provided for the student’s own preparation and are not an official NESA assessment. Reports are emailed within 7 days of the seminar.
- HSC Masterclass. Invitations are extended at W² Education’s discretion, normally to the top 10 students in each paper.
- Examination conduct. Sessions are run under examination conditions. A student who breaches those conditions has their paper withdrawn from ranking.
- Ownership. Every HSC Premiere paper, booklet and examination material is the sole property of W² Education and may not be retained by the student.
- Examination materials. The student must not remove, keep, photograph, scan, record or publish any part of an examination paper, in any form, at any time. This protects the interests of every student who has paid to sit the examination.
- Seminar. The student must bring a physical notebook and use pen and paper in the explanation seminar. Notes may be taken and questions transcribed during the seminar.
Any breach of these conditions removes the student from the ranking and forfeits their HSC Masterclass eligibility, with no refund.
